Atlanta NIMO update
November 5 and 6, 2012
· Disaster Medical Assistance team (DMAT) arrived and set up a temporary hospital for the city of Long Beach.
· Power was restored via generator for Long Beach City Hall.
· Eastern Type 2 IMT arrived and began work of organizing a distribution center for donations for Long Beach residents. Numerous donations have been received. The ICP and center has been set up at the Long Beach Ice Arena
· 27,000 informational flyers have been developed to date for hand delivery to residents.
· In the last 72 hours, residents of Long Beach have received: 35,000 blankets, 259,200 liters of water, and 289,366 cases of MRES.
· Assisted Indiana Incident Management team with developing an evacuation plan for emergency responders at the ICP in anticipation of NorEaster. (Atlantic Storm) This includes Atlanta NIMO, Fema Individual Assistance Center personnel, Donation Distribution Center and the Texas DMAT.
· The storm is expected Wednesday, November 7.
· Verizon will be removing temporary towers from the island because of high winds, so cell phone coverage is not anticipated to return until Friday.
